5 Tips to Increase your Alexa Traffic Rank

A briefing from Alexa with a little more insight to your traffic rating:

The traffic rank is based on three months of aggregated historical traffic data from millions of Alexa Toolbar users and is a combined measure of page views and users (reach). As a first step, Alexa computes the reach and number of page views for all sites on the Web on a daily basis.

The main Alexa traffic rank is based on the geometric mean of these two quantities averaged over time (so that the rank of a site reflects both the number of users who visit that site as well as the number of pages on the site viewed by those users)

----------------------------------------------

1. First things first, if you haven't done so yet you'll need to go and download the Alexa tool bar. It's really useful and will allow you to easily check the traffic ranking of other sites. (You can find the official download here: http://www.alexa.com/site/download/

2. Place an Alexa Traffic Rank Widget of your blog/site up. They have a couple different styles to chose from such as the one I have up on the bottom of the page. (You may click on it to view my personal traffic page on Alexa ... yeah, yeah so it's not so great yet - I'm still fresh to the scene and working on it! However, since I've begin using these strategies I've noticed an increase in rank!)

3. Encourage everyone you know to use the Alexa tool bar! The more people utilizing it, the more increase in everyones ranking there will be when visited by those who have it installed!

4. Get your URL noticed! Join blogger communities, do link exchanges, leave comments on other bloggers websites. The more advertisement your URL has, the more traffic you will have flowing in from other sources.

5. Post topics revolving around webmaster tools. A lot of the time when you do this others will enjoy what they read and link to your post or site. On top of that, when it comes to webmaster tools it's very likely that you will have those same readers coming back over and over again to review your tools and check for updates on new listings.

There are plenty of other sites that list many more "Tips" on Alexa rankings, however - I will only be posting those that have been proven by others to truly work. I'm not going to feed a ton of tips into this for looks. I want to only give out truly useful and beneficial information that you can put to use right away!

Alexa.com is a subsidiary of Amazon.com. It is a website which provides information on traffic levels for websites. The Alexa rank is measured according to the amount of users who’ve visited a website with the Alexa toolbar installed. Alexa toolbar is an application developed by Alexa Internet. Its primary use is to measure website statistics. This toolbar collects as well as gives some valuable information. Once you install it, the Alexa toolbar monitors all your surfing and collects information about what domains you visit. They use this data to rank web sites. The traffic rank they assign to websites is based on 3 months of aggregated historical traffic data from millions of other users and is a combined measure of page views and users. Webmasters, advertisers and ad networks use your blog’s Alexa rank as a gauge to determine the worth of a link on your website. If you depend on link or site selling as a form of monetization you’ll definitely want to increase your Alexa rank, because it’ll increase your bargaining power when it comes to ad pricing.
